it didn’t feel like a mid-february wedding. in the morning i was worried because it was muggy and just gross outside, then the sun came out and it seemed to get a little better, but then, the sky turned DARK GRAY and it started to rain! i was like, oh my heavens, not today! but it rained for all of five minutes before the clouds parted and it was sunshine and happiness for the rest of the day! wowza! i know they say rain is good luck, but let’s be honest, no one wants it to rain on their wedding day!! i made my way west with the windows down!
lyndsay and michael booked their wedding to include a photographer. there was a last minute cancelation with their previous photographer and i was one of the few photographers available on their date! and i’m so glad i was!! i wrote to lyndsay in hopes to assure her, i know planning a wedding can be stressful and a last minute change of photographer could be a huge deal to some! especially since their wedding was just a couple of months away at the time. they had already done engagements, and that’s something i enjoy doing with my couples before hand to get to know them and they get to know me! unfortunately with the holidays and all of that we were unable to get together before their wedding. but when i got to her mom’s house where they were getting ready i felt at home. we took some pictures at the home before heading off to the church, which was just down the street! the church street was lined with huge oak trees that covered the streets and i was in heaven. east bernard is seriously the cutest little town!
after the ceremony (and some family pictures) lyndsay and mikey joined hands and exited the church, jumped in an old red pickup and rode to the reception at emery’s buffalo creek. i love this venue, i love how close it is to my home and how it feels like you’re in hill country without having to drive all the way to hill country. i love the rustic feel and the mix of open and closed rooms. plus the owners and staff are super nice!! the rest of the evening was spent with toasts, cake, and the traditional dances, they did a grand march that was so fun to watch them navigate through the venue, chasing them around and wondering which door they were going to be coming back through. it ended and they had their first dance surrounded by loved ones weaving around them occasionally surrounding them in tight hugs. there were so many times my cheeks were hurting from smiling and laughing so much!! the father/daughter dance was emotional for everyone, i’d be lying if i said i didn’t have tears in my eyes. that man sure does love his little girl, it was so evident throughout the day. i loved watching him watch her, so stinkin sweet.
lyndsay and mikey, what an honor it was to be able to capture your wedding day. the love you share is so gentle and genuine. thank you for allowing me to be a part of this special season of your life! hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon AND enjoy reliving your day through this post!
